Wyze has launched a new version of its smart scale, moving the display from the base to the handle and adding more detailed body composition tracking.
The Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus builds on last year’s model with over 50 health metrics and improved battery life, although it comes at a slightly higher price.
The biggest change is the placement of its 4.3-inch TFT colour display, which now sits on the handle rather than the scale itself. This should make it easier to check measurements without looking down at your feet, while the customisable screen means users can view their results without opening the companion app.
Wyze has also expanded the number of measurements the scale can track, jumping from 13 health metrics on the standard Scale Ultra BodyScan to more than 50 on the Plus model.
It retains the ITO electrode-coated glass surface, allowing users to stand anywhere on the platform for a reading, alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for syncing results with their phones. There’s also support for Apple Health, Google Health and Health Connect.
Beyond body scanning, the scale includes dedicated modes for pregnancy, babies, athletes, pets and even luggage. It can automatically recognise and sync measurements for up to eight users, while an unlimited number of guests can take one-off readings.
The supported weight range remains 11 to 400lbs (approximately 5 to 181kg), making it suitable for a range of household uses.
Battery life has received a modest improvement too, increasing from eight to nine months on four AAA batteries. Otherwise, much of the hardware remains unchanged from the original model, so existing owners may find little reason to upgrade unless they specifically want the expanded tracking or handle-mounted display.
The Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus is available now in black and white for $149.99 through Wyze and Amazon, compared with the standard model’s current price of $119.98. That’s roughly $30 more for a more convenient display and additional measurements.
